Default Emissions test failure

Hi guys,

I failed my emissions test today in my 2014 Civic DX. It failed with "Not Ready" statuses for both the Oxygen and EGR FLow monitors. The tech at the emissions inspection site asked me about disconnecting my battery recently or my battery going dead. This has happened, but it was 4-6 weeks ago. It should be noted that my battery has not been replaced. I was wondering about that. The car has 71,000 miles.

Any tips or suggestions?

Was able to resolve this several weeks ago by exercising some driving patterns "drive 60 mph for 2 minutes, let car coast down to under 30mph without hitting the brakes" kind of thing. I found these procedures on youtube by searching for "honda emissions test".

I also bought a univiersal code scanner for $20, the Autel MS300:
Amazon Amazon

I bought the scanner because it was able to to tell me if the car would pass the emissions test. There are consequences to multiple failures in my state, like needing to provide a mechanic's certificate. It also saved me the time of wasted trips over there, and alleviated some stress worrying about if I'd pass the next time. Recommended for anyone having emissions tests headaches. So easy to use, and being able to google the particular "not ready" codes of concern to get help clearing them. No mechanic needed in most cases.

Thanks to all that chimed in on this. -TC
