Engine Rebuild - Air Bag Question
I'm in the process of pulling the engine on an '96 Honda EX 4-door. The repair manual indicates that I need to disable the airbags as part of the procedure. It states that I need to locate put a "short plug" on some wires. I can locate what looks like one of the wire for the driver-side airbag in a compartment on the steering wheel, but can't locate the short plug. I can't locate anything resembling the wire or a short plug behind the glove box on the passenger side.
Questions:
Is it really necessary to disable the airbags? If so, then can anyone provide the correct procedure for an '96 Honda EX 4-door.
Thanks.

Taking the battery out of the car, the first step in pulling the engine, will pretty much disable the air bags. They're not dangerous to you working under the hood. If you were going to be gutting the interior, you would need the short plugs. They're little red plastic plugs.

Yeah, I looked for the "little red plastic plugs" but they're not there. Anyway, it's good to know I don't need to worry about this. I was afraid that, in the event I forgot to reconnect one of the 40-or-so connectors before reinstalling the battery, the airbag circuit might detect something was amiss and deploy the airbag(s). That would ruin my day.
