Check the engine mounts. I had a lot of shaking before I replace my front lower driver's side mount. I even put in the energy suspension engine mount insert kit to stiffen it up even more.

Also, if it's the original timing belt, which I hope to God that it isn't, replace it NOW!!! But basically, look for wear, and go by Honda's reccommend mileage for replacement.

honda guidlines say timing belt and water pump at 65000 and 110000 miles so if its the original then you should probobly do it. as for the shaking, check your motor mounts, closely. alot of times they will look fine, but if you look closely at the drivers front, alot of times you will notice that the rubber isnt connected to the mount anymore....meaning it aint doin no good.

Tough to tell 100%. Just change both the pump and belt. There are clue but it's not worth the risk of damage if they do break. Even if you pull the cover and it looks great it doesn't matter. I will be changing mine in the next few days on Civic #2. Service manager at local Honda dealer told me that original timing belt can go all the way to 200,000 miles and on rare occasion he seen them break at 80,000 miles. From what I've heard most break in the 140,000 to 180,000 mile range. If the car is over 200,000 miles also replace the crank and cam oil seals since you're there. Just don't ever scratch the cam or crank. [/align]
