Default engine swap

Whats up guys (and gals).
First off let me say that I have a 1998 civic ex with a d16y8 with a 5 speed. However I was driving home today and the motor started idleing really low when I would push in the clutch, like 200 rpms. then I'm doin about 75 80 mph andI hear this noise like a loose pully or something for a second and then my car dies. almost instantly the coolant went to about 3/4 of the way up the temp guage. so Icoast over and pop the hood and I find coolant all over the left side of my motor and on the intake and tranny. but I check my levels and the surge tank is ok and my radiator is full. So I tow it home and take out the plugs thinging I may have sucked some coolant up the intake. But when Itry tostart it , it makes a thump noise, not a click like a dead battery or a bad starter. almost like a mechanical obstruction ( piston or something) so I wonder if I have blown the motor.I still have some poking around to do with it but ifworse comes to worse I would like to but a b18 in it. I like the b18 its a solid motor and not too heavy like I think a h22 would be but i'm open to some options.but I don't know ifthe b18will fit the trans and everything. if anyone knows some other"upgrade motors" I could fit in my car I would really appreicate it.

thanks
andrew

i dont.
but i would jack it up, block the wheels, put in neutral,
and see if you can turn the engine counterclockwise (if that is the direction of rotation) by hand

Check your timing belt
^if that's broken, you'll want to take the head off and check the valves for crushing...

yeah I checked the timing belt, it was replaced almost a year ago along with the water pump. I pulled the cam cover off to see if maybe the belt jumped out of time, and It might have but whent I retimed it I could still not turn the motor by hand. I can only get maybe 1/4 out of the crank. I'm gonna pull the head and oil pan tomorrow so we'll see whats up. but if I do need to replace the motor would a b18c1 bolt right in or would I have to get custom mounts?
