engine swap 94 D15B7 into 88 DX?

What would it take to swap a D15B7 (94 Civic) into a 88 Civic dx? Can I use my 88 throttle body intake?

you would only use the long block, and everything else is re-use from your old motor.

I can do that, I'm in CA. Will smog check pass with D15b7 block #?

Thanks Droopy for your write up. I found a donor at pick n pull. 1/2 price sale to.

I put the same engine in my 91, retaining the 91's stock DPFI intake. It is straigthfoward. As I remember there were only some minor mods:

Rewire the radiator fan switch (lead the wires over to the sensor on the thermostat instead of the back of the block),
Rework the small hoses that preheat stuff on the intake,
Tweak the top radiator hose some to make it fit.
The exhaust from the Gen5 will fit but the O2 sensor is different. A 4 wire O2 can be converted to 1 wire by using only the white output wire and grounding the other three.

I think swapping to an engine that is newer than the car is still legal in CA but I don't live there.
