Default Error P0420 Need New Catalytic Converter in CA

I'm hoping someone could shed some light -- I have a 2003 si hatchback (engine 2.0L) and need a new catalytic converter. Dealer price is $1,300 for this part. I've gone on ebay and other websites, but I couldn't find a compatible part. Does anyone know if there is a non-dealer part for my car? Any help is appreciated!

This might be off topic here...but...I did the "defouler" trick on my 2000 Civic SE and the CEL is gone! I believe I have vastly improved and simplified the famous defouler trick. No drilling. Being a welder, I went to Advance Auto and bought a pair of spark plug defoulers (Dorman #42009) in the HELP! section and took them to my shop. (Drilling etc. makes the remaining threads too thin and they break off when screwing into the CAT). I simply sawed the threads off one defouler and welded it onto the other one in about 30 seconds with my little mig. Secondary o2 sensor screwed into this unit perfectly and then into the Cat. CEL light goes out after start up just like when car was new. Disconnect battery before work and upon reconnecting afterward... the computer will already have reset itself. Awesome. 2 weeks and still perfect. Contact me if you need help with this. Steve sick_string69@hotmail.com

The defouler thing is cheating, and doesn't do anything about the unnecessary pollution your car is making. A tailpipe sniffer test will still fail because the cat is bad.

clear code and seafoam in gas tank.. see if it work for a few bucks.

However, I had that code on my Odyssey for nearly a year, and I install an aftermarket cat on my Odyssey, no more code, green lights on scanner for about a month now.. will know if i pass smog sometime this year.

Don't try to sell on your first post in a tech thread.

The guy is in CA, he cannot try to "trick" the emissions testers. lol

Yeah, and they WILL look under your car and when they see that BS, you're lucky to get off with only a warning.

Does that seafoam trick actually work? If so, for how long?
