lately on my 96 civic i havent been getting the gas millage i usually am. i filled my tank up about a week ago. i drove about 230 miles within the last week, but my tank is on "E". what could be the prob?i usually get around 30-34 around town.

 

Did it only happen once? It could have just been bad gas. What about your filters? Are they dirty, how long has it been since they have been cleaned/replaced?

 

no i noticed it for the past couple weeks. then i filled it up just to see exactly what im getting at and i was dissipointed. about the filters... i just bought the carcouple weeks ago so im not sure.

 

You also might want to check for leaks in the fuel system (see picture).

Otherwise, is the engine performance fine? Is the CEL ON? Are the tires inflated to about 35 psi?

 

no CEL isn't on. just got new tires on and they are inflated properly

 

i would suggest checking the gap on ur spark plugs and change ur fuel filter,dis. cap/rotor,spark plug wires.

my 4dr was getting really bad gas milage i would fill up and not even get 200 miles until 1 day when i was driving and it died and would not start. wasnt getting no spark i changed the coil in the dis. and it fixed it later on i noticed i was getting great gas milage.which to me makes since since coil was goin bad was producing enough spark therefore less power less power means engine has to work harder and use more gas.

 

try removing the lead from your right foot.
