Default Firing Uneven

1994 Civic Lx,

The car has a misfire that you can hear, makes it idle erratically.

Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor replaced, no fix.

If you hook up a timing light to it you can actually see the flashes going out of rythm, which means it is firing pretty poorly.

What do you think, Distributor? Control Module?

Is the Check Engine Light ON? If so, retrieve the code. One possibility is that you have a faulty TDC/CRANK/CYL sensor in the distributor.

Not a code in sight. You can hear and feel it misfire tho, I dont think this model has a knock sensor but thats that it sounds like. A knock or a stumble.

Perhaps the coil or igniter unit in your distributor is intermittently faulty?

The MAP sensor and fuel injectors are other possibilities, but problems with these components should also turn the CEL ON.

Finally, a faulty EGR valve might not turn the CEL ON but could produce your symptoms.

I think we have found the problem. We got the dizzy off and the shaft is rough to turn and would get stuck, so I suppose it would seize and that would cause a misfire. Waalaa!
