Question First project with electronics

http://www.ledunderbody.com/instruct...structions.pdf

I just bought this under dash glow kit for my 1998 Honda Civic. I was hoping to wire it so that it would turn on when the parking lights and head lights were on. It needs at least 10 amps and that's exactly the left and right head light fuses. I have heard though that you should wire it to something with extra not just the minimum, So if I shouldn't put it through the headlights what do you suggest? Last I have stock battery and alternator, is that okay?

Also, is it possibly to wire one item to two power sources, because I want wire it to the headlights so it's on at night and the only time I would have the headlights on is at night, but I also want to hook it up to the door switch so that when I open the door you can see the light when you step out.
