fog lights
I don't know if this is the correct section or not, but I'm having a hard time understaning fog lights for the 96-98 Honda Civics.
Were they even a factory option when buying the car? I'm thinking of putting them on my car, but if I do I want the OEM ones that were offered (if they were) for that year. Everything I find for that specific year either says "OEM Style" or aftermarket. I can find OEM for 99-00, but they are a different style since the front end changed between the years. If someone could clarify this question for me that would be great. Websites that offer 96-98 OEM fogs would be even better. Thanks. Also how do they install on the bumper. Justmounted inside the lower grill?

i put a set on my 97 a few years ago- oe style that i got off e-bay
everything was plug n play-most of the wiring is in the car allready
you have to take off the front bumper to do it - which takes about 5 minutes
most kits come with good directions
bumpers on the 97 /98 are different than the 99/00

i think it's as simple as installing the proper mounting bracket, then bolting the lights into place, installing switch and making all the connections, especially if its an oem set/oem styled/oem equivalent set with the factory style switch
if it is oem fitment, then all you do is trim some uneeded plastic obstructions, then install the brackets in the grille. (YOU DON'T HAVE TO REMOVE THE BUMPER ON THE 96-98 MODELS) then attach a ground wire, then wire the power to a clip in the engine bay, then wire the power to a switch in the compartment, then run to the relay and power, then everything should be set. the kit should include everything that is needed. just make sure to check out the quality of the pack when ordering oem style, but it should be fine.
i would really recomend removing the front bumper. its not that hard. it was a slightly harder install than it seems. running wires and such. but if you have installed anything in your car and can figure out what they are talking about in the directions shouldnt have a problem.
If I do intend to add fog lights, I will remove the bumper. I have some license plate brackets that I need to fix. I'm not a big fan of trimming the unneeded plastic but I guess there is no way around that? Also why am I have such a hard time finding the OEM ones that were optional on these civics. Does anyone know a site that sells the genuine honda fog lights for that year. The inside switch too.
