Yesterday my 2001 Civic EX2dr car had it's first problem ever.
(FYI, overdue for an oil change)
I was going about 45mph, and I noticed that the speed was decreasing. When I'd punch the gas, nothing would happen. NOTHING! So I had to pull over.Stopped the car for a few minutes, turned it off. Then tried to go, but I drove for about one minute and it happened again. So we pulled it home in a trailer and it's just sitting here. We thought it could be the fuel filter, but I went to buy one today and was informed that you can't buy a fuel filter for this car. So is it the whole fuel pump? We really don't know what to do.What else could it be? Clogged muffler?

 

Any CEL codes?

Have you inspected the spark plugs?

 

Sorry, I am dumb but how do I get a CEL code? Check engine light is on and MAINT light flashes when car is started

 

Nevermind, I just read how to do that. Sorry I am such an idiot.

 

You need an OBDII scan tool. You can either buy one or go to an auto parts store that pulls codes for free.
