Default fuel pump

I am getting ready to change my fuel pump in 89 civic hatch. I know I have to pull the gas tank to get to it, looks like a big job. Has anybody done this? and how hard is it? I am also having trouble deciding on what fuel pump to get. I am not sure what type of mods I might do to this car, so i am sort of swaying towards performance, but if I don't should I still get a performance pump? Will it be too much for a stock engine(d15b)?
Thanks in advance

If you get like a Walbro 255, then yeah I'd say it'd be a bit over kill for a stock engine, but there are pumps out there that are like 110-140 gph which would still allow you the performance you want (if you go that way), or if you stay stock it wouldn't be "overkill".

110 - 140 gph? That's a whole lot more thana Walbro 255. Fuel pumps are measured in liters/hour, so a 140 gph pump would be pushing more fuel than 2 side by side Walbro 255's.

But I'd say, until you add FI or do a swap and up the displacement or something, don't put in a performance pump just yet (why wear it out on an engine that doesn't even need it?)

The actual job itself isn't too hard; just a little awkward manhandling the gas tank around under the car. Once you unplug the pump, unstrap the tank, drop it, and pull it out, it's pretty straightforward: Unscrew the seal ring, turn, and pull it out. You might have to swap some pieces over from the old pump (depending on what you buy), so keep an eye on the differences between the two.

In stock choices I'm finding 140.00 at autozone for lifetime warranty, or a performance for about 100.00, so performance seems cheaper too, do those last, if I go that way? Will it pump too much fuel and cause problems elswhere?
