Well, I got a new cluster for my 91 Dx. The cluster came from another 91 that had a tach, either a CRX or an Lx or Ex, not sure. Anyway I got it all swapped out and everything is fine except when I have the dome light in the center position it is fine when I have the key in the ignition. As soon as i take the key out of the ignition the dash light comes on that the door is open when it is really closed. When I open the door the dash light turns off. Pretty screwy. I am thinking that a connection is backwards some where?? Or is this a common thing that happens and can be fixed easily?

The light is only supposed to come on when the key is on and a door is open, not any other time.

I don't have the '91 diagram handy, but I think there is a diode involved-- possibly built into the cluster-- and if the diode were blown (shorted) you would get that action. The light would also still come on like it should in the case of the key on and a door open.

My suggested easy fix would be to take the bulb out.
