gsr trans no reverse

Hey everyone I don't have a civic now but a buddy of mine is going to buy a 93 4dr lx with a ls motor and gsr trans. The trans apparently works fine except it doesn't have reverse. If any one has any ideas of what might be wrong or how to fix it please let me know.
