Default Have to heat off crank bolt, can I reuse it?

Hey, I have to heat off my crank bolt off (harmonic balancer) If I let it cool off (not throwing it in water) will I be able to reuse it? I would get a new one but honda cant get one in until 2 weeks.

well i would thread the bolt into the crank by hand and if it goes in smoothly go ahead and slap it in until the dealership gets the new bolt.... the crank has a tooth on it so it shouldnt spin. but as long as the threads arent streched it might be ok.... but i would still replace it....

only good thing is you can remove that bolt without pulling anything else off. so a quick swap when the new part comes in....

OR another thing to try... talk to your dealership parts guy and ask him to put a URGENT on it.... cannt remember exactly what my parts guy said... but i gave him my vin number and he put it into the computer and the next day he located what i needed from another dealership and i had the part within a few days.... cause the warehouse was on back order for the parts i needed...
at least worth a shot to speed up the process...

+1, you might be able to use it but you should probably get a new one

when i had to take my crank bolt off the get the pulley off when i changed my timing belt, we tried everything and it wouldn't even budge. Tried an impact wrench, breaker bar, breaker bar with a pipe on it for leverage, and then finally my neighbor who has a welder helped me and my dad get it off. We took an old bed frame and cut a chunk out of it, bent it, and then welded it along the new bend, and welded a bolt to the end of it. We put the bolt in one of the holes on the pulley and wedged the bedframe rail on the ground underneath the car so that when we pushed on the breaker bar the bed frame would stop the pulley from turning with the bolt.

Took a long time to come up with the idea. lol. What a PAIN

Get a new one, heating it like that can weaken the structuran integrity of the bolt and make it brittle. so just get a new one
