Default Head gasket and Heating problems.

Well ever since the day I was driving home from school and I had a random episode where my car temperature was in red and I quickly turned the car off and got it towed home, from there I tried running it and it never overheated again so I thought the problem was over.

Then this winter I realized my heat was not working well at all, the fans are blowing, but when the engine is warm it was not blowing the hot air it should be so I changed the thermostat with a Autozone one. Well today I noticed that the autozone ones only go to 170 degree's and the Nippon Honda Thermostats run 180 degree's so I bought and installed that to find out the heat was still blowing cold.

So I checked my coolant which I use 50/50 water and coolant totally was gone and I had just filled it up maybe a month ago and there is no leak anywhere where I can see. I let the car run when I refilled the coolant and the pipes that the water runs through to the warm the car were hot like they should be.

Im going to take the car to the mechanic, but was wondering if maybe the pipes or tubes just need hosed out because they could possibly be blocked or maybe my head gasket it warped or gone bad?

My two problems just as a recap are no heat coming into my vents and the coolant is dissapearing.

Coolant disappearing = burning it or leaking it. That's it.

No coolant in the system = no heat in the vehicle.

You need to find out where your coolant is going. Just wondering, how is your oil consumption? Are you burning excessive amount of oil, or no?

Check the oil for mixing, compression, and for leaks. If you don't see any leaks or residue from a leak any where, you are probably burning it. Which probably means leaking HG. Compression check should tell you more information about this. If there is a leak, you will be losing/less compression in that cylinder.
