Default Header + Sensor Issue

Hey guys
I had an aftermarket header on my car and bought the stock one, but I have an issue,
the oxygen sensor placement (first sensor, not second) is on the header itself, not the downpipe, yet the sensor plug is under the intake manifold. The plug is like a foot under the intake manifold, so how the heck is the primary sensor supposed to reach the front of the header? As of right now I have the stock downpipe so it's attached to the front of the catalytic converter because it's the only place i could put it.I have a plug for the header so there's no leaks, but how do I get the sensor to reach the front of the header?
thanks,
-Ivan

96-98 D16Y8s had the primary Ho2S on the exhaust manifold, 99-00 D16Y8s have it on the downpipe. you might have gotten the wrong manifold.

well then if they are the same engine, how is it the 96-98 ones have it on the manifold? is it an extension like the previous poster said?

I would think because of the OBD-II difference between them. But if you install the HO2S on the manifold, wouldnt the hole on the downpipe be open? Just leave the HO2S on the downpipe and have the hole on the manifold plugged or something at your local muffler shop.

yeah but like i said the downpipe doesnt have it, so i put it on the tip of the cat
I have extra screws to fit into the holes tho so that's what I would have used, but since I don't seem to have the right stuff anyway I guess it's a problem lol
alright thanks
