Recently my headlights started dimming and getting brighter when the lights were on dim,I took the car to a shop and they said if both headlights were doing it,it was the ECU is this true.The shop wouldn't even check my battery or alternator.I suspect my VSS is going out also,the car skips but only when the speedo acts erractic,it also shudders at 35mph. Any info is helpful.I have a 93 Civic EX 1.6L.

Sounds like you're losing voltage from the alternator. Measure voltage at the battery with engine running and lights on, it should stay above 13.0 volts Also check for bad connections at the battery and the big ground wires.

 

Thank You..I'm going to take it to a different shop tomorrow,hopefully they'll be able to tell me.I'm also thinking it's the alternator

***took car to shop they said the combination switch that controls the headlights and turn signal was bad,they replaced it and I'm still having the same problem.
