Default Heater fan won't work

I've got a 89 honda civic that the heater fan nor the radio will work. The radio will come on in the accessory position of the ignition (no problem) and it uses to work in the ignition run position. But here lately if by chance the radio is working and I turn on the heater fan, they both go off and usually won't come back on for a while. Is it possible that there is a connection in the ignition switch which could break contact when higher amps are pulled.

How is your alternator? If you have a voltmeter, put the leads across the battery and check the voltage while the car is running. It should be between 13.5 and 15 volts. If you rev the motor the voltage should go up.

I'll get out there this evening and give it a check! I've already replaced the alternator on this car twice before (Advance Auto). Thank God for replacement warranties.

I checked the alternator yesterday and the output was basically the same(14.4V).
