alright guys im helping a friend out since he doesnt have a comp...ok he have a 98 em1 and he said that his 3rd and 5th gear would pop out, he wants to know do he need a new tranny or a new clutch or syncro? any help...

 

Popping out of gear can be because the motor mounts are shot. If the engine / transmission is able to twist far enough, it will pull on the linkage and pull it out of gear. Check that first.

 

Ok ill try to see if the motor mounts are wasted..thanks
