How do u test a fan switch?
I have a 95 Civic LX w/ some heating issues. The troubleshooting flowchart in the manual tells me to test continuity btwn terminals on my fan switch. Am I supposed to test continuity btwn 3 terminals? If so...how?
Thanks

Also, the lowest I've seen the switch is around $15. I haven't really looked that hard. I've already spent too much this month on the car. I was wondering...since a switch is pretty basic (a device to make a connection), Can I repair it?
You test one circuit at a time. For example in position 1 there should be continuity between 1 and 4 as well as 1 and 6. (and 4 and 6, but you don't really need to test that).
Typically when the fan doesn't work on high but does on other speeds, the switch is bad (since the position 4 circuit handles more current it is prone to burn out). If the fan works on high but not other speeds the resistor is probably bad.

That's the way I thought I should do it (test two terminals at a time). OK, so the switch is bad. I wasn't hearing beepis on any combination. That's why I wasn't sure I was doing it right.
What do u think about my other question. Can I repair the switch? I was thinking of opening it up & making sure each connection would work as planned.
Fixed the fan switch. Got continuity like in the manual.

If they all share one post (wire plug) that one will usually be a common (ground) so like mk said you would just check from there. I just suggested replacement because that is usually a lot easier than trying to repair or worry about a switch, once it is worn it is worn unless you just had a break in a wire. Glad to see you got it working though, bro.
