How to get crankshaft pulley off??
Well I'm going to be changing my timing belt, tensioner, and water pump this weekend and I need to know if I need a puller to get the crankshaft pulley off. Like a 2 or 3 jaw puller, or like a 3 hole steering wheel puller type deal? Also, there's a rattling/knocking sound coming from my timing belt area. It only does it a low rpms. Could it be the tensioner or something going bad?? Thanks for any info.
The hard part is getting the bolt out. A decent impact wrench will save a lot of frustration. Once the bolt is out, the pulley will just slide off by hand. No puller needed. When removing the pulley, a little metal key will come loose from the groove in the pulley, be careful not to lose it.
ya with the timing belt just be sure to line up the upper cam timing marks and the lower crank oil marker. i didnt and my belt was off a tooth or two. it ran but pretty bad. just a hassle since i didnt pay attension to the lower oil mark....
