Default How to jack up the front of a civic?

hi,

where do you jack up the front of a honda civic 1996? I've heard many people claim that there is a clearly marked lift point near the front but my honda civic sits so low i have a hard time looking under it. I'd basically have to jack it up to find the jack points which is totally ridiculous. I may have to find it by touch. does anyone have a very clearly marked image of where the jacking point is on the front of a honda civic? I really don't want to break anything. and yes i know where the jack points on each side by the wheels are but i am looking for a jacking point in the front to lift the whole front end

The lower radiator support closer to the A/C condenser side. Is your car lowered? You could also remove the front bumper to access this jacking point.

never mind,

I found it. i looked under the car using a mirror and spotted this little thing behind the bumper that looked like a metal platform. i wasn't sure if it was it so i tried it...worked just fine. i am driving the car without problems so it must not have hurt anything.

if anyone is wondering it kind of looks like this

that's basically the front bumper and then the splash guard and right behind that is the metal platform.

Yes, that is what we are referring to.

so i've been jacking it up from the front alot and i recently noticed that the metal jacking point has sort of bent and been flattened. should i continue jacking it up from the front? should i try placing a wooden block in between the jack and the front jack point to prevent futhur damage?

maybe i should just stop jacking it up from the front just to be safe.

I have an indent on mine, but it isn't like the lower radiator support is bending. Obviously, if it was, you would start to see fitment issues out of nowhere with the radiator & A/C condenser I would imagine.

I usually just jack it up from the front, and put jack stands on the side jacking points. Same for the back, raise it up by the little tow hook thing and place jack stands on the subframe area, or on the jacking points.

yeah, it probably isn't a big deal. however i've read that you can bend your frame upwards if you use the front jack point. i don't know if there is any legitimacy to that claim.

Well, I tied a chain around the upper and lower rad support during a motor swap, lifted the entire front end up about 4-5 ft in the air, and then started to notice the rad support was bending, however, it was bending ever so slightly and gave me enough time to drop the old motor out, and install the new one without any ill effects. It was up in the air like that for about 2 hours, too.

This was done as a last resort as I couldn't use the crash beam in the front to raise the vehicle up. After about 1 ft of the ground, the crash beam brackets holding it onto the car started to creak and bend.
