Default I need help quick! please!

I changed my fuel filter and when I was putting the new one in when I tightened the bolt that goes down from the top (it is hollow inside and has two holes on the sides) I noticed that neither of the holes line up too well with the line that puts fuel into my engine. That hole has to be at least half way off to the side, maybe more. A friend of mine told me it's ok like that, that it's just gotta be TIGHT. When I line up the holes it's kinda tight, just not really tight. He said it has to be really tight so it doesn't leak, but don't the holes have to line up?? I made sure I put the washers on correctly. I'm sorry if this same problem is somewhere on here, I'm posting now incase it isn't. I just really need to use my car but don't want it not working right. Thanks!!

Ok, so I drove home and it seemed ok but I can't tell if it's leaking cause I'm not sure if it's grease from my hands from ealier on it or if it's gas that's mostly evaporated. I don't smell much gas, but some spilled earlier so it might be that little bit I smell. Anyway, I got my camera and here's a pic... click it

Did you use a torque wrench on the bolt? You may have tightened it too much. My manual says that install is same as the reverse of removal. Also it says as long as there aren't leaks, you're good.

Well my main concern is the holes not lining up. It's on pretty tight, but since the holes aren't linedup right can't that cause too much pressure?

Are you talking about the banjo bolt? If so you are o.k. There is a groove around the inside of the banjo bolt that lets fluid through. (If I am thinking of the right thing that is)

Yeah, he's talking about the banjo bolt. But he's saying that it isn't lining up perfectly.

It doesn't have to does it. Its ilke a brake line fitting with the groove machined on the inside of the round thing the banjo bolt passes through. This thingy:

The banjo bolt is a bolt with a hole drilled through the middle. I did a google search and found this pic: http://www.troublecodes.net/articles...er_366x277.JPG

The pic is from this site:

The bolt looks like it is at the same angle!! lol
