Default idle troubleshooting

hey everyone this is my first post but ive been reading a lot on the site and i love it, i have 97 lx, mt, d16y7 engine.... lately when i coast in neutral the rpm goes to 1500... when i come to a complete stop it usually drops down to about 1100... however its not consistent, on the same trip sometimes the idle/neutral coast will drop to about 600 and be fine so that rules out idle screw... ive read that checklist everyone gets redirected to with idle questions and now my problem is locating the IAC valve... anyone have a picture or something!? i have a factory manual pdf but its not so clear... i really hope thats the problem even though im skeptic... also whats ECM/PCM?

Default RE: idle troubleshooting

i shift in neutral to stops in my 2000 ex coupe, but i have a 94 ford ranger stick also and on the ranger forums, people say that is not good for the tranny.....i dont agree with them, how could it not be good????

i have a idle rpm problem with my ranger also, when i shift between gears, the rpms rise and when i come to a stop, and throw it in neutral and brake to prevent stalling, the rpms rise quite abit.....any ideas what the problem is??

One thing is that a PCM/ECU/and ECM are all the same thing and are either called the Powertrain Control Module, Engine Control Unit, and Engine Control Module. These are the computer for your car..
