idling issues

i have a 2001 honda civic and its not idling steady it keeps jumping between 1000 and 2000 rpms. does anyone know what i could maybe do to fix it?

there is so many things it could be, but the first question i have is, is it doing it only on a cold start, meaning does it only do it until your car warms then it's a good idle after?
