Try to localize the noise. Is it coming from the starter motor or elsewhere?

If its coming from the starter your plunger could be toast so when you let go of the ignition the starter stays on the flywheel. So find out if this is going on, possibly replace the starter.

But with RonJ find where the noise is coming from first.

That was also my first thought when I read the post.

It could also be a problem with the key switch not switching back to "run" immediately when you release it. Then the starter keeps turning, and grinding because the engine is already started.

If the noise persists long after starting but is kind of faint, and goes away when you push the clutch down, it could be from the transmission. Check the transmission fluid level as a first step.

i think your first statement may be right... because that is wat it sounds like is like the ignition doesnt switch bak.

its like i am holding it in start position there but i dont

Do you have access to a multimeter?

I assume from your post that the starter is not turning the engine.

Start by performing this test:
