hi guys,

i bought a nearly new latest civic and i just used my spare key and it is a totally different cut, and i want to know

a. if i get another one from the dealer how long does it take to reprogram the key?

b. should i be charged for the key after 12 weeks of ownership

c. the key code card i got with the car is 8 digits long, is this correct.


anyone had any problems getting a new key for their car?

If you go back to the dealership you bought it at you shouldnt have to pay but they might make you. WHo knows. Im not sure about the digits though. It gets pretty expensive though, we get them done alot for work and they range anywhere from 70 bucks to 300. I would agure with the dealership for a while just to save a buck if I were you. ALthough I still havent gotten my 2nd key for my brand new Mitsubishi yet, I belive they can cut it using your VIN #.
