Default interior & trunk light problem?

I have a 2008 civic si . the interior lights only work if i open the door. If i push the light button or turn the switch on nothing, only when i open the doors will they work.
I can't get my trunk light to work at all. I have checked all the fuses and bulbs in the trunk. Looked for a switch or button that activates the trunk light but can't seem to find what triggers the trunk light?

for the trunk part, try following the wires to find the switch.and as for the lights that only come on when the door is open,it sounds to me like the switch that turns the doom light on is going bad,or has a bad second dairy ground problem.that or pull the bulb to see if the conection parts are clean and clear of dirt and grime.hope this helps you out,if not let us know and we can try more trouble shooting

The trunk light should just have a switch to ground built into the trunk latch, the same circuit also turns on the trunk warning light on the dash (does that work?). Check that power is reaching the light fixture, again if it is like older models one of the wires will be live all the time. If the trunk has been opened and closed a lot, one of the wires could have broken where it flexes, though that is more typical on cars that are 10 or 15 years old.

There is a computer involved with the dome light. The switch on the light fixture may just ground the bulb to force it on all the time, that is how the old models work.

Ok my door ajar light does not come on the dash when the trunk is open. This honda was a salvage rebuild , so i'd be guessing what the person did when putting it back together?
