Just bought a 90' crx engine off Local shop, LIst of parts needed
Hey i have a 89 dx, i got a 90 crx engine im building so i have a reliable motor and that way i can still use the one i have. Now what parts should i replace for a reliable engine? I dont mind tearing it all the way down to the block. Just want reliability. Thanks

if you're gonna tear it down and want a reliable engine, then you might as well replace all the typical wear and tear components, valves, valvesprings, piston rings, etc. Also check the condition of the pistons like if they are pitted, etc. Replace them too if they are bad. Also, while you're in there, I would port and polish too. It isn't hard at all but takes a lot of time to do a good job. Basically, you just removing excess material (flash, etc.) and smoothing out all the surfaces to make it more efficient.

look into some pistons out of an 89 integra, the one with the 1.6L dohc D16. i believe they will fit right in. they will bump the compression about half a point, and can be had for a resonable price at Acura. and hey, the rods out of the same motor should bolt in as well. they are good to over 200 WHP, which will be really hard to get out of a sohc.
