Just did valve job and VTEC system not kicking in

Default Just did valve job and VTEC system not kicking in
I have an 01 Civic Coupe EX and just had a the head redone with new valves. Put oil in and let it idle for quite a while.. valvetrain is ticking, and when i went for a test drive, i can't go over 3500 rpm (its like the rev limiter is at 3500). As I understand the hydraulic VTEC solenoid is not opening.. how do i get this to work?

Is the CEL ON? If so, does the trouble code point to the VTEC solenoid or is this your guess of the cause for the problem?

Last night I replaced the CKP crankshaft position sensor and it went away.. no problems now.
