Keep blowing fuses
I Just got new oem fogs for my 984dr lx. Followed all the instructions. Grounded everything. Installed the factory switch. When I go to turn headlights/foglights on the fuse keeps blowing out. First rated at 15 I tried replacing with another one and then again with a 20amp. They just keep blowing. Any ideas whats happening here?
Do I have a wrong ground or what.
Note My headlight bulbs run at a pretty high wattage so I def need to change them soon. Prob get some sylvans.
But I also changed the bulbs that came in with the fogs to Nokyas which run at 100w. So is that the problem? Just get new h3/h4 bulbs that run at low watts?

The fuse between the switch and the fogs? I say just keep upping the amperage on the fuse....i've never heard of the ground causing fuses to blow. I've herad of moisture in the bulbs causing it though. The new fog bulbs could have someting to do with it, if they're drawing more current than the original fog lamp bulbs then the fues that was rated for the original bulbs will be too low and blow like whats happening. Maybe hte package of the new fog bulbs will have a amperage rating for a fuse on it, use that fuse and if it keeps blowing that i guess i'm out of ideas.
haha 6th hour aide period, what else man?
i had asimilar problem with my underbody neon, the fuse included with kit was too small and everytime i would flip the switch on it would pop and it was getting really annoying, so i know how you feel. You'll probably just have to get a bigger fuse, or else (depending on how you have the switch wired), wire it into your fuse box on the 2nd terminal of the fuse. That way its not getting power until the power goes through the fuse. Wire it into the correct size fuse and you should be good.

The fogs are wired into the fusebox. And as I can recall they only turn on when the driving lights or headlights are turned on.
How high you think I can jump. Was at 15. Jumped to 20 and blew.

this is a good way to overload the wiring, and cause a fire.
check your wiring thoroughly to make sure nothing is connected improperly.
the 100W bulbs are the likely cause
think about light bulbs in your house, all of your light fixtures have warning for maximum wattage bulbs to prevent you from drawing too much current through the wires causing them to heat, melt and short
try putting the bulbs that came with the fogs in, and seeing what happens
Ah. Problem solved fellas. I checked the bulbs again and found that the positive connector was bare and hitting the negative and all the metal parts of the housing. I forgot to replace the conector covers. Tried it again. Works perfectly. Thanks for the help.
