I have a 99 honda civic ex. Recently while trying to unlock my car using the keyless entry, I had issues. I was able to activate both the lock and unlock...the horn still honked alerting me the doors were locking and the headlights still blinked. While using the unlock the lights still blinked, the dome light came on and you could hear the doors making the unlock sound...but the doors would not open. It was about 18 degrees at the time. The next morning I tried the keyless entry again...and it opened. I was wondering if the temperature could of had anything to do with the doors not unlocking?

 

Yeah whenever it's really cold here (not very often) and i try to unlock my car, the locks always go up really slow.

 

Yeah its the temperature because when it was around 20 degree here my driver side door lock was frozen but my passenger wasnt but my passenger door was froze shut tight. Had to give it a little bit of force to show whos the boss.

 

Were the doors unlocked, and they weren't opening? That problem has happened to me. It the door mechanism freezing inside the door. The handle would lift, but the door wouldn't open.

 

Exactly!!! Everything was functioning correctly and I could hear the doors unlocking and the handles would lift, but the door would not open. I was a little confused b/c it wasn't raining and there wasn't any kind of precipitation. Does this happen often?
