Default Keyless Entry for 99 Civic LX

I have a 1999 Civic LX right now, I was wondering if I could program a keyless entry from eBay and use it. I still have the stock radio. I never had a remote before on this car. Thanks

are you purchasing a factory keyless entry FOB? if so did your car come from the factory with keyless entry? if so then yes you will be able to just program the new remote to the vehicle

The keyless control unit would be located behind the driver's kick panel if you want to verify having one.

if your vehicle did not come with keyless entry system from the factory then you will not be able to just purchase a key FOB and have it work, it wouldnt even program because there is nothing there for it to program to.

You need to purchase a keyless entry system. Might as well get an alarm system that has keyless with with. i.e. any DEI alarm system e.g. Viper, Python, Clifford, etc etc etc

Also if you dont have power door locks, then you'll also have to get door lock actutors to control the locks by remote.

I have power everything. Is there any way to check if I have the program? Some members in other threads said it was under the radio, and the other member above.

The kick panel is next to the driver's left foot. Remove the panel and look behind it for the keyless remote control unit:

That sure looks like a keyless receiver. Just verify that it has the expected 18P connector.

How do I remove the drivers kick panel? There is a black button that holds it in place, do I pull it out with force?

Let's say that if the stock radio is removed, and the aftermarket one is placed in......is there a green wire I hear about or something, that is the keyless entry wire/transmitter.....if it's not plugged into the aftermarket receiver or grounded or anything like that....could that be another reason why I can't program my keyless entry to work?
