hello i have a honda civic ex with the vtec, i went out to the auto parts store to get another knock sensor. i put it in, and still the service engine soon light came on, why would this light come on if the sensor is new and the motor is not knocking at all? my coil on my distributor is almost toast the spring on the coil is shot, now would this make the timing off a little to make the engine light come on, and that would say on the computer that is was the knock sensor? i just want to get this problem fixed. thank you.

 

Are you getting a knock sensor code, or some other code? The light comes on for various reasons.... need to pull the code to find out why.

That coil will burn out and leave you stranded if you don't replace it. Also replace the cap as it's going to be burnt too, and make sure the connecting spring is in place.

i ask some one about knock sensor and he told me may be that the header is making the knock sensor go off. has anyone heard that the headers will make the engine light come on or make the knock sensor come on? would just unplugging the battery reset the computer? or do i have to get it reseted by a computer? i also read that it could be the spake plug being too hot.
