Default knocker

my gf's 91 hatch dx auto has developed a knock. i plan on taking the motor out of my dx 5 spd and putting in hers. b/c i plan on doing a swap any way. found out it looks like its going to a lot of work. witch im sure no mater what i do it will be. but i was wounding how hard would be to just change the rod bearing in her car?

you cant just change a rod bearing you also have to either buy a new crank or take it off and get it turned.

well your gonna need to pull the engine take trans off, then remove the flywheel,
then remove the oil pan, underdrive pulley, timing belt, then unbolt all the piston rods, oil pump, then crank caps, and then remove the crank, you can take it to a machine shop and have them turn it and then they will tell you the size needed for the new bearings, then you can reinstall everything, or buy a new one and replace it.

There's no difference in the engine for automatic versus manual. You just need to swap the flywheel over.

Do the engine swap, it's faster than disassemble the motor.

ok thanx guys. i think im just gonna stick with the swap. down the road i might be looking for a zc to build up. so if any1 has a cheap one that will go in my 90 hatch let me know.
