The non-VTEC D16Y7 engine does not have a knock sensor, but the VTEC D16Y8 engine does.

If you're getting the knock sensor CEL code on your non-VTEC, that means the car has the wrong ECU in it.

If you're just getting a lot of knocking, the cam and/or spark timing may be off.

Or you bought bad gas and need to try a fill up at a different gas station.
