Default Loud Muffler/Engine Noise

Alright, ive got a 95 civic dx, with the 1.5l 5-spd. Recently, as in last week, the car started sounding like I had a really loud and obnoxious cheap racing cat-back exhaust..... but the car is stock. Ive also noticed a decrease in acceleration and mpg... any ideas? Ive checked the pipes from the cat back to the muffler - no holes.

Any help or pointers would be superb!!

Must be a hole. Block the tailpipe with the engine running, listen for where it comes out. This is much easier if you drive up on ramps first and have a helper to block the taipipe while you check underneath.

Pipe could also be broken before the cat, or manifold not tight on the engine.

And that would be affecting my mpg and acceleration?

The system is sort of tuned. If the pipe is broken in an unfavorable place (especially before the cat), it can reduce performance.

Or, there is more than one problem with the car.
