Arrow Low gas Light

I can't get my low gas light display on my dash to light up. When I ride on empty and it doesn't ever seem to light up. I checked all my fuses. They are all good. I don't want to literally run out of gas but when i get low i try to ride it out to see if the light ever comes on and it doesn't. Where should i go from here. Any ideas?

I have a 98 civic and have never seen my gas light either. (I know its there because in the right light I can see it) It must have to be really low before it turns on? The most fuel I have every put in it on a fill up was 10 gallons. Since my tank is 12.9 gallons that would mean I have about 3 gallons left. I think the fuel gauge is fixed to show that it is empty before it really is, which makes sense IMO.

I got a 92 Civic & one time I drive it about 20 miles on "E". I thought I wasn't gonna make it to the next gas station. Turns out when I finally got gas I filled up with 11.6 gallons(if I remember). I think basically you have to have 1 gallon or below for the light to come on...but that's just my opinion.

The 92 civic doesn't even have a gas light for the record.

on my 97 the gas light will come on when I've burned about 35-36 liters (about 10 gal) of gas. but it will have sat on E for a while before it does come on.

If you want to test your gas light, buy a small jerry can. When you're getting close to E take it with you and go drive around. If you run out of gas at least you can make it to a gas station. And you'll be able to
1) see if the gas light works
2) if it does work you'll know how long it sits on E before it comes on, and how long after it comes on you can go before you're out of gas!

That's odd...maybe it was another light I saw(that wasn't lit).

good idea silver. I know the gas light is there because i can see it in the rite light. The most gas i ever put in my ride was about 9.75 gallon. and the most miles before i filled up was 296 miles on a full tank. does anybody happen to know how many gallons the tank will hold anyways? 97 civ d16y8
