Default motor mount???

in my 93 civic lx sedan in higher rpm in 1st and 2nd gear if a hit the gas and accellerate hard there is a loud thud/clunk that you can hear and feel. would that be a loose motor mount? or what?

its super easy to see if its a mount. put a wrench on them. if they arent loose, it could be a number of other things. start with the easiest to remedy first.

Have one person watch the engine while the other goes back and forth in drive and reverse for and auto and for a man trans go from 1st with the ebrake on to rev but don't let out on the clutch fully if any mounts are broken you will be able to see the engine rock a good deal more then normal. You will have a hard engagement if either the front or rear mounts are broken the bolts won't always be loose

Like the other guy said, the rubber part of a mount can fail and it will have excessive travel and noise even though the bolts are tight. It goes without saying but stand beside the car, not in front of it, during the "power brake" test so it can't run over you.

it should JIGGLE. but not bounce.

I have hasport racemounts and they still vibrate, but OEM mounts your looking for no more than 1 inch or so of bounce. look up the DIY on solid mounts
