motor mounts

Default motor mounts

I have had two mechanics to tell me that I would need to replace my Civic 97 engine due to the fact that a mount was welded to the block. Any coments on this would be great.

hasport motor mounts are the best....there expensive but there worth it

I would just get regular motor mounts... no need for expensive ones unless you have beast under that hood.

Is there a problem with the engine or mounts right now? In other words why are you worried about them in the first place?

I am sure theres a way around an entire new engine.

They are not welded on. Very simple to unbolt and replace. Unless someone did an incredibly kludgey reconstruction.

That is exactly what happend. I just got back from the shop and they showed me the deal. Bolds had been broken off , replaced, welded to the block and the aluminum block now has a crack. They say that some welding could be done but the engine would have to be taken apart and put back together and that would cost more than replacing the engine with a use one

hah. is this car news to you? how many miles are on your car? if there are a lot of miles it might just be better to get a newengine. Who says a newer engine with a warranty (depending on where u get it) isn't good?

if its been WELDED and is crap then i would say...... good luck either way.....
that could be very bad if the block is cracked.....

but if the block is cracked i would say just look for another and replace the motor........ im shocked anyone could break the bolts.......
they looked preaty beefy even on my 94..... some idiot must have used a strong air wrench to snap them!
i slightly striped one of my power steering bolts but that isnt to bad to mess with. still has alittle bite and has like 2-3other bolts so i left it alone.
