Default Motor surging after warms up

Hi,
I have a 89 Honda Civic LX. Just had the motor rebuilt 2500 miles ago. Needed a Idle Air Control Valve months ago. Finally put it in last week. Motor still surges after I drive around (5-10 miles) but comes back down once I get going again. Added some injector cleaner to my tank yesterday. Someone else said it may be a vacuum leak. Anyone?

It was the throttle body. I took it up to Honda and had them run a diagnostics on it. I spoke with the mechanic who worked on it and he said 89's were notorious for the throttle bodies wearing out. Of course, they want 787.00 to install a new one so... "anyone got a throttle body laying around the garage they want to get rid of?"

that is absolutely ridiculous... What part of the TB is at fault? TB's don't just "go bad"

He said it was the butterfly and rod section (whatever that is) andif I try to pick up one at a junk yard, chances are it would be warped too.

I have a manual (its not chilton's... it's a hayes?) I 'm pretty sure I know where the TB is located andfigure I canpull it off and clean it real well.

I checked with Advance. Their throttle bodies start at $75 and go up to $525. If Ihave to replace it, should I get a higher performance one? What are the advantages/disadvantages? Would it effect my gas mileage? Do you know what throttle body I need?

I'm just a poor single girl trying to raise a house and two cars. One car has a drinking problem (chevy truck) and the honda has hyper tension deficit disorder... help!

Alright, your TB is the squarish piece with a round hole in the middle, that sits in between your intake pipe, and you're intake manifold. It's held to the intake manifold by four bolts, and looks like this..

It is located here

Can you tell me what motor is in your car? Or better yet, get a close up picture of your TB?

Like I said in your wanted thread, I have an extra one in my garage you can have, but it does not have a Fast Idle Thermal Valve (FITV), and if i recall correctly, the older model civics all have FITVs

I've got some pics for you but I can't figure out how to paste them in here. I've uploaded them but then I can't find them... tell me how and I'll send to you. My motor looks a little diff from the pics you sent me, but I'm sure it's just cosmetic.

I would assume the butterfly and rod would be the FITV... cuz that would just be my luck!

Thanks for all your help.
