Default My windshield is dirty

Why is my windshield dirty? Because when I pull the wiper stalk on the steering column, the washer pump doesn't go on. Additionally, the wipers won't work then, either. However, the wipers DO work as normal otherwise.

All the fuses are fine, and I figure that if the pump went bad, the wipers would still be activated when I pulled that stalk, but they don't. My next step is to check the voltage at the pump, but thought I'd ask while getting around to that. I'm not crazy about having to open up the steering column wiring, but that might be next, too.

Any thoughts on where else I should look?

I don't think the 97 is supposed to activate the wipers automatically with the pump. After applying the fluid, you need to push the switch down to start the wipers anyway.

The problem is going to be either the pump or the switch, since you know there is power from the fuse. Check for voltage at the pump while someone pulls the switch.

While inconvenient for daily use, I'd really be thrilled if that was the case and I just had a bad pump. The idea of diving into the steering wheel electronics for the switch doesn't thrill me.

It's actually not that complicated to replace the switch. I don't think you even need to take the steering wheel off, just remove the plastic column covers.
