NEED HELP
HELLO, I have a 94 civic, i bought it for my girlfriend. The car had a broken timing belt. I took off the head and had it reconditioned and pressure tested. I replaced the water pump the timing belt and put the head back. the machine shop told me the head was already in the right timing to place back on the block. I placed the head back with the crank pulley in tdc and placed the belt. I reassembled everything back. the car started fine. but it boggs out if i try to accelarate the throttle. I can turn it on and it will stay on forever, but as some as i try to give it throttle it boggs down and dies. CAN SOMEONE HELP. CAN IT BE THE TIMING IS OFF? i MATCHED EVERYTHING RIGHT. (ASSUMING THE SHOP WAS RIGHT) ALTHOUGH I CHECKED AND THE TWO LINES SEEMS TO BE WHERE THEY BELONG.
I tried driving it it will go the the end of my driveway and then losses all power and boggs out. PLEASE HELP!!! i NEED TO GET THIS CIVIC ON THE ROAD

i'll bet you have the map sensor and mas air flow sensor swapt. They are both on the throttle body... I did the same thing... It doesn't throw a code, and idles smooth as silk, that is until you give it gas. Try that first. If not, make sure your valves are adjusted to the factory specs. Good luck, hope this helps.../.. let me know!
thanks for your posting. Do you mean the sensors or the connections? I never removed the sensors from their locations. when I removed the head I just pushed the intake manifold back to remove the head. but, i did disconnect the plugs. Your saying I might have crossed the plugs from the throttle and map sensor. A guy told me today it might be the throttle position sensor also. please advise thanks again.
its very easy to miss the proper timing by one tooth. it will even look pretty damn close. put a pin in the hole in the cam cover and into the cam. it will hold the cam at TDC, and then you line up the crank pulley, slap the belt on, and its right. but try the plug thing first
I did put new plugs but not new wires. I will buy new wires. I had the head off when I placed the crank on tdc, I placed the piston on the very top before it starts to drop. Also, will the car not start if its off timing? I thought the car would not start if the timing was not just right? someone else said the map sensor also, how often do they go bad?
i meant the sensor plugs, but if you dont know when the plug wires were last changed, its not a bad idea. and yeah, it will run, but not always well. there is a mark on the crank pulley that you line up with the timing mark. that will set it at tdc, and with pins in the cams, you KNOW its right.
I put new plug wires. The car still does the samething. As it gets warmer it becomes more touchy. If the car is cold I can throttle up ok, but as soon as it starts to warm up. I touch the throttle and it boggs down, and i have to hold the throttle down for it to throttle back up. But as SOON AS I PUT IT IN GEAR IT LOSES POWER AND WANTS TO TURN OFF AND FINALLY TURNS OFF OR i HAVE TO LET GO OF THE THROTTLE.
I'm almost ready to take it all off and redo the timing although I'm almost positive it's right. I did notice that to put the distributor in time, it's all the way to the end. Is that right or should it be more in the middle with some play to each end?[:@]
