Default Need help for CIVIC throttle sensor

I have 2005 civic, and engine light keeps going on and off recently, I went to dealer to check and found out throttle sensor not functioning properly because oil and carbon build up.In order to fix this sensor, they have to change the whole throttlebody assy that will take me $700. It's crazy. My car just out of warranty, less than 3 years but runing at 70000km. I have to pay for this. Anybody has any idea how I can fix this without out paying that much money?
Thanks a lot

I am not sure about the 05 Civic, but for earlier models, it is possible to purchase the throttle position sensor alone and to replace it. Do a search on this forum for more details.
