Question Newbe 97 civic ?

Just looked at 97 civic 2dr cope 5sp 165,000mi Was snowing bad. Did not drive it. Just moved it around in driveway. Seemed to run fine clutch is at top of pedel but seemed ok. Did not have power steering. Owner said it came that way. But when I did some searching on line and did not see where this car came with out power steering. I am not sure of the mod. But it is a basic roll up windows. I Can tell me if it came without power steering? Thanks.

All civics have power steering, except the CX hatch and DX models with a manual tranny. Do you know what model your car is?
this should answer your question.

Manual windows would mean that it's a DX. I don't think CX models were offered in the USA after 1995.

You can strip a junked higher model car for the parts and refit the DX with power steering if that's important to have it.

sedans have power steering from factory
somebody probably removed it or bypassed it, best thing to do is open the hood and take a look and if unsure take a pic and post it.

first of all your car is a 2dr. coupe, and a sedan is 4drs by the way.

Search for it, for someone has recently done exactly that project. Basically everything steering related:

steering rack
hoses and lines (numerous)
fluid reservoir
pump
pump bracket
crank pulley (no groove for PS belt on the DX crank pulley)
belt

Pretty sure there's a 96-00 CX hatch... unless it was only in Canada or something.

But it's nonetheless irrelevant since he has a coupe.
