Notstartingcivic
Hi. my 89 civic will not start. It turns over fine and when it starts it runs like a top. I tried to see if it was the ignition switch, but in position 2 the dash lights go on so i dont think that is it. Could it be the coil, or fuel pump or what? I havent checked for spark yet....If i get spark what could it be? what if there is no spark?....help would be appriciated
thanks!
thanks!
There are many posts about non-start issue on the forum. I recommend reading them. It takes good spark, good fuel/air mixture and good compression for gasoline engine to run. My brother told me many years ago.

Ok i got it started by chance. my wife got it started (she says by fiddling with the clutch gear shift) i dont know. i took it far 1/2 hr spin and it ran 100pcnt. when i got back to my house i turned it off, tried again and no start. ive been told that if the warning lights are off when key is in position 2 than its the ignition switch, but lights are on when they should be as far as i can tell. i know the car is getting fuel and spark or it woulnt run when it finally starts. also it never starts if you keep cranking but one of every 30 tries starts right away when cranked...
aloso the starter cranks no problem and the battery is fully charged and the alternator is charging the battery...
any help from u xperts would be appriciated!
