Default Odometer stopped working on 95 civic ex

It may be a coinicidence, but soon after swapping my ecu (because my last one was sick), my odometer has stopped working. Sometimes is works for a few miles and then stops again. I can push the trip reset, and sometimes get it to work again, but then it stops. any ideas?

The odometer runs off the speedo so if that's working fine there's something wrong inside the cluster.

I'm not sure how to fix it, maybe someone else can chime in.

i had a similar problem but my speedometer wasnt working...turned out it was just a cable i accidently disconnected while doing a simple oil change..so it might just be something simple like that...who knows?

The speedo is perfectly fine. the odometer is only working about 1/3 of the time, as it shows 36 miles out of my last 100. sometimes i can flick the trip reset and it starts going again. is the workings of the odometer mostly mechanical? i started taking the instrument cluster apart, until i got a look at the circuit board strapped to the back and got scared. i def. do not want to mess up the speedo by messing around in there.

It's probably a bad connection on the circuit board. The circuit board uses the pulses from the speed sensor to drive a stepper motor that turns the odometer.
