hello,

i just bought a 89 honda civic DX manual car (177k mi.) from a lot, and when i test drove it nothing was wrong with it. Not even a day after i bought it, did it start to smoke a little bit when i would reach higher rpms. Then i went to change plugs and wires and found oil covering all four of my spark plugs. it has been driving fine other than the smoke for a week and now its gotten alot worse and is stalling when at idle. Auto zone thinks its some valve seal problems. i also read in other forums that it might be a valve guide seal. I have a heines manuel and it gives a procedure to remide valve seal problems except that it does not apply to the 16valve motors. Of course thats what i have. So im left in the dust. Can anyone tell me how to go about fixing my valve seals or valve guide seals? any input is greatly appreciated. Please help! thanks!

 

where on the spark plugs is the oil?

ontop of them or on the spark tip side?
if its ontop where the wires conect then it coul djust be the seals on the valve covers... BUT if its on the botom of the plugs then you probably got some serious problems.....
