Default Oil leak near distributor

hey guys, I have some oil leaking from somewhere in the disributor area and sometimes the car takes an extra couple seconds to start. I think it maybe an O- ring or something gone bad. Is this something I can change without messing up the timing and how exactly should I go about it? engine is D16Y7

thanks

Replacing the O-ring is definitely a DIY job. Make marks on the distributor and engine that will allow reinsertion of the distributor in the proper orientation after installation of the new O-ring. It would also be prudent to have a timing gun to ensure ignition timing is set to spec when done.

Also check whether oil has entered into the distributor and, if so, clean it out.

Are there any precautions to take when removing the distributor to prevent other issues or should i just go for it. Also what to clean the cap with, Wd40, degreaser or is there somthing specific.

How much oil is inside the distributor and where i it located? I would try to use a solvent that leaves no residue.

The picture pertains to 96-98 Civics.

Problem solved, the car started afterwards but was idling a bit too low. I tok it to a friend of mind and he said the timing was a little off. So he turned the distributor and things went fine.

Thanks
